We have a quirky indie coffee shop bordering a canal and the ocean on a rural Hawaiian island. Our baristas take their trade very seriously. Our customers are bred to expect excellence in their coffee. Our shop has a reputation for good coffee, good community, good service.

Anywhere urban.
About Me:
Whoa.
About My Company:
Small Town Coffee. It's a coffee oasis in an otherwise barren land. It's an old style shop where people come to talk, have meetings, share music and art, read, bring their kids. We have everyone from travelers to senators come through. We insist that everything taste good and look good, and we take it real seriously. Oh, and we're nice. What else?
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
When you teach someone something about coffee, they apply it, or discover it for themselves, whatever, and then come back and tell you with "that look" in their eyes, you know the one? Education and awareness.

Steam Wand Mojo.

So, another little thing about living on a small island way out in the Pacific is that you can't find anyone to fix your espresso machine. Needless to say, I'm doing pretty good at fixing stuff, reading manuals, and I'm way more mechanically inclined than I ever knew. However, our steam want pulled out of it's socket a few weeks ago. What do you do? So we jimmy-rigged a wand from another machine that we have (our current method of competing with other shops is to buy up all the espresso… Continue

The weather on Kauai

Hi, everybody. I often lament that I am so far isolated out here in the Pacific and I can't attend any barista events without a criminal amount of travel and expense, or that I haven't been to a coffee shop in so so long that's not my own. And I think about how all my training comes from videos and magazines, websites and things we learn together, or the odd traveller who comes out here to tell us about coffee. And I lament that all my beans come by aeroplane (thank heavens for Fedex). And it's… Continue

We're sitting in Small Town right now, enjoying our Naughty Toddies. Delicious! We're leaving Kauai tonight, but I'm so glad I got to visit S.T. while we were here. Thanks for the great coffees! (And the mango cheesecake is delicious also. :o)

What it is, sister! I just returned from a visit to LA and wish it had been to Kaui. Why aren't you competing at the Western Regionals? Let's work on that for next year. I know you can do it..... no matter how steeped your fingers get. They were made for pulling shots! Peace, Anni.
