And the coffee gods smiled...

Profile Information

What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Austin, TX
How many years have you been in the industry?
4 years-on and off
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I love people. I love laughter. Most of all I love coffee mixed with both of those.
I have been in the coffee business on and off--one shop for 2 years, another 3rd wave for a few months, and another 3rd wave for a few months. I still have a lot to learn--and soak it up with a vengence.
I want to settle down and grow old working in a shop that is awesome....
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I'm interested in Hawaii and Colorado--they seem to share the same personality that I seem to jive well with. I also would love to learn the coffee culture of Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland.

I'll go anywhere--as long as it is a happy place. NO ANGRY BARISTAS!!!
About Me:
We're all connected in this huge web of life and coffee runs the motor.
I'm a pretty laid back granola of a chick who *TRIES* to ride her bike everywhere, rain or shine.
I feel that coffee shops fulfill their role when they are producing a amazing product that goes deeper than the cup--it supports it's growers, it brings a smiles and giggles, it promotes energy and the shouted cry of "Eureka!"
I want to work with positive people using coffee as an engine bringing culture to customers' cups, eyes, and ears--as long as fun music and beautiful smiles are involved.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
I love the environmental and social connection that the artisan coffee and 3rd wave culture promotes.

Hey hey! Austin, huh? That's good stuff!

No, I do not know them personally (just a few very casual conversations a year or more ago). I do know the owner of Progress Coffee and Owl Tree Roasting in Tulsa. Check them out and I can introduce you guys if it looks cool to you.

Good luck!

Good hearing from you! "When" you get back to OKC, we have a spot for you! Yes, Micah is working the bars now at Cafe Evoke Catering! It's awesome.

Check out www.ArizonaCoffee.com. It is a site kept by one of my friends, Chris. There is an awesome AZ coffee scene!

We'll be in Crested Butte for a 10 or so days starting February 12th - will you still be around?

Things here are going well. I was bummed that you left because we are getting busy and need some help!

Next time around I guess (or when we get the Evoke opened in CO!)

Hope things are great. Good luck finding a job. I will keep my ears open. We will be heading to Crested Butte at the end of the month - looking forward to it.

Hey, there are some third wave people in CO. Have you heard of Novo Coffee? Super awesome roaster in Denver, you should order some and press it up at home. So good. Colorado also tore up the MRBC this year, here are the finals scores:

Jesse Bladyka- Coal Creek Coffee, Laramie, WY
Greg Lefcourt- Ozo Coffee Co, Boulder, CO
Robin Crosby- Coal Creek Coffee, Laramie, WY
Philip Search- Sole Coffee Roasters, Boulder, CO
Emily Kryska- Caffee Sole, Boulder, CO
Thai Patton- The Cup, Boulder, CO

Might check them out if you ever make it out to those towns...
