What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, barista trainer, consultant
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Saint Louis, Missouri
How many years have you been in the industry?
2
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I have worked in coffee for two solid years. Within that time, I have moved from barista minion to cafe manager to barista trainer to coffee consultant. It has been two years of learning everyday. My biggest accomplishments thus far have been helping new customers build cafes from dirt to espresso machine and placing 4th in the 2008 MWRBC.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Spain, Italy, spanish speaking central or south america, the mideast.
About Me:
Besides coffee, I thoroughly enjoy playing music (http://www.myspace.com/viadove and http://www.myspace.com/mikenorthmusic), reading books (see J.S. Foer, Hemingway, Tim O'Brien), and being married (try not to see my wife on the internet).
About My Company:
The original Kaldi’s Coffehouse is situated in the historical DeMun neighborhood of Clayton overlooking Concordia Park. We first opened our doors here in 1994. Since then, fans have come from far and wide to enjoy our coffee drinks and our home-made pastries and vegetarian fare. Favorites include espresso macchiato, peaches and cream smoothies, chocolate chunk cookies and grilled eggplant panini. Between 2000 and 2004 we opened 3 new retail locations in Kirkwood, MO; Springfield, MO; and Chesterfield, MO. In 2007, we opened two more locations in Columbia, MO and a second Clayton, MO store. Along the way we have continued to expand our wholesale and roasting operations.

Espresso is our business. Whether it's a perfectly pulled double shot, thick with rich, golden crema or a grande latte skinny, or an iced mocha, Kaldi's is known throughout the region as the espresso specialists.

We also bake scratch-made cookies, biscotti, scones, muffins, brownies, cinnamon rolls, nut bars and crumb cakes daily. Kaldi's offers a simple, vegetarian menu featuring grilled panini, fresh salads, hearty soups, baked handmade burritos, pizza by the slice and other innovative, healthy stuff.

All natural icy fresh fruit smoothies, sparkling juices, granitas and strawberry-lemon ices take the heat out of a St. Louis summer.

Of course, we also offer an enormous selection of our fresh-roasted coffee beans in any quantity for home brewing - plus the knowledgeable staff to help you go home with the perfect coffee for your home use.

Kaldi's has been voted St. Louis' Best Coffeehouse by the Riverfront Times and City Search. St. Louis Magazine named our cookies the "Best Adult Cookies" in town and the place for the best smoothies. We are routinely named best place to buy coffee in those same publications.

Hey dude! BGA calling! Midwest is in need of a chapter rep. This person would be an initial contact person with new members welcoming them to the guild through an e-mail or call or whatever and be our key point person for membership in the area. We need someone to come on board to help re-energize our organization and me and the board thought you or one of your fellow Kaldi-ites would be an awesome choice. Any interest?
The Executive Council is super energized to get the BGA rolling again and we need good people.
Let me know ASAP if you have any questions or interest.
My number is (785)969-6144, or (785)249-6321
