Profile Information

What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Los Angeles
How many years have you been in the industry?
1.5 years
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I wanted to learn to make great coffee so I've spent the last year and a half learning as much as I can both by reading and by doing. I used to think that making great coffee was something very illusive. However, the more I learn and the more I interact with folks more experienced than I, I've seen that we are all learning. Furthermore making a great cup of coffee doesn't take magic, ninja barista skills, but lots of repetition, some understanding of extraction, simple recipes that generate repeatable results and attention to detail. Now that I've gotten the opportunity to train people I see that with these basic guidelines anyone can make great brewed coffee and espresso. I think that this is wonderful because my goal is to share how wonderful coffee can be with as many people as I can.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I want to go where coffee is grown and everywhere in between.
About Me:
I generally love both the making and partaking of great food and drink. I am lucky enough to get paid to make tasty coffee and I look forward to being involved in this industry on many different levels over the next several years.
About My Company:
Helping manage the coffee program at Single Origin Coffee in Los Angeles. We are serving coffee roasted by Verve Coffee Roasters. We seek to question and push against the "truths of coffee brewing" so that we do not miss anything when it comes to brewing great coffee. We also want to brew this great coffee for our customers in a way that is approachable for both the person who is interested in the detail behind the cup and the person who simply wants something that tastes good. We do not want to ignore either of these customers.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
learning and getting hopped up on caffeine with other people who get geeky about this black drink
