My journey started as a part time Barista at Starbucks Singapore from 2006-2009. It was just a a part time job back, then it became passion as soon as i became a Coffee Master 6 months after joining Starbucks.
Then moved to a Local Coffee Manufacturer (wholesaler). CuppaChoice International Pte Ltd (previously known as Hui Yee Coffee Manufacturer). I was fortunate to be working with a roaster as it widens my knowledge of coffee and I was able to practice what I've learn.
I was the key Barista. I maintain coffee bean inventory, monitored coffee beans costs and prepare weekly report to submit to higher management. I’ve attended Barista elementary workshop during course of work at CuppaChoice cafe and I would say I am certified with barista with skills in coffee preparation and understanding of coffee and its quality.
I participated in local competitions like, Cuppa Barista Challenge 2010 and won 2nd runner-up amongst 12 contestants. After which i joined, Singapore National Barista Competition 2010. In June 2010, I joined another Barista competition, Mithr Phol Barista Challenge and Latte art Challenge .I managed to get into top 6.Also Participated in Oriole Latte Art Throw down 2010 and Singapore Coffee Association Halloween Latte Art Throw down at Toby's Estate Asia 2011.

And now I am a home Barista and a home roaster running a group page on Facebook call Frelance Barista Singapore.

Soaking Sumatra Beans in Cold water

Posted on August 23, 2010 at 8:06pm 1 Comment

I wanted to grow my own coffee plant and this the first experiment i did. I soaked 10 Sumatra beans in cold water to hydrate them (a theory i gotten from no where). This morning it's "bloated" and seems like some roots emerging from the coffee seeds. Next step is to plant in in fertile soil back at home. It takes about 5 to 8 weeks for the young sapling to grow. Let's wait and see if it will…
