About Me:
Hello! I never know where to begin on these "About Me" sections so here's a quick run-through; Born Irish-American and Chilean I am biligual and spirited! My coffee adventure began when I was 16, trained by an Italian Barista who was about four times my age at the time. He was old school but thanks to him I developed an early appriciation for well pulled espresso and a disdain for "too-big, american drinks" as he used to say. From there I always held a job (sometimes 2nd job) in various local coffee houses. 9 years in the industry, rather disconected, and then I come across The American Barista & Coffee School, did all I could to get myself to Portland and learn as much as I could. When I was in Portland I fell in love with coffee and coffee people all over again and pushed on to my current 10th year in the industry, breaking some bad habits I developed while working isolated in Southern California. It been an awesome journey so far and I can't wait to learn more and more and see how coffee continues to change the world! I am always looking for opportunities to practice the fine art of and craft of the Barista!
Hi Alex, I live in LA, so if I'm drinking coffee in LB it's always at the office, but we do have a great roaster-retailer here in LB, Poly's Gourmet Coffee at 4606 E. 2nd Street.
