What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, home barista, coffee enthusiast
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Portland, Oregon. USA.
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I'm a home barista so far, but I wish to hone my skills and quickly and as intensely as possible. I can make a killer latte and a clean work environment is extremely important to me. You'll always see me cleaning as I go. Lastly, my work and life experience in other areas, particularly education, has granted me people skills by a very good measure.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
As a matter of fact, I've just returned to the US. I've recently completed a Master's degree in the United Kingdom, having previously lived and worked in Berlin and Vienna (the latter on a Fulbright grant.) In addition, I've traveled throughout Europe, Kenya, Israel, and Brazil. Though I'm an SF Bay Area native, I feel most at home in New York City, where I completed my undergrad at NYU before departing for parts (then) unknown. That all being said, my thirst for travel remains. I've just arrived in Portland and hope to explore much more of the Northwest. I hope very much to return to Brazil one day, and I'm desperately interested in visiting India and East Asia.
About Me:
I've just moved to Portland having just completed a Master's in political philosophy at the University of Cambridge. I've always felt most at home and most productive in cafe's and coffeeshops, and hope to acquire, as quickly as possible, the skills necessary to find myself behind the counter in this wonderful city. I'm well-traveled, multi-lingual (English and German), hard-working, and most importantly I have a passion coffee. My love of the venue is second only to my love of the beverage itself. If anyone is training or hiring, my CV is available on request.
About My Company:
In addition to my aspiration to become as excellent a barista as possible, I'm a visual artist and academic. A website is forthcoming, and my art tends towards the figurative and illustrative, taking on various cartoon and comic-industry oriented motifs. Although comfortable behind a screen, I consider myself a manual artist foremost with graphite, charcoal, pen and ink as my preferred media. Having just gotten my Master's, I hope to eventually return to academia in pursuit of a PhD in Political Thought and International Relations.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
As mentioned, my love of the venue is second only to my love of the beverage itself.
