Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I currently work at a small-batch artisinal roastery located along the Lower Hudson River Valley. We roast both single-origin and blends from South and Central America, Africa, and Indonesia. The shop is the central hub for the active and engaged town members and tourists from all walks of life. We take a considerable pride in both the quality of our coffee and the quality of skill in the barista. I am trained on a LaMarzocca espresso machine with Mazzer grinders. I use a double basket, naked port-o-filter. I can pull latte art (mostly rosettas). I am also becoming familiar with pour-over methods and have taken more of an interest in alternative forms of coffee bean extraction.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I have always been passionate about travel, but with the advent of coffee culture in my life I am becoming increasingly interested in traveling to origin places such as Honduras, Peru, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Mexico. I have had the pleasure of drinking coffee worldwide but would love to continue in various major cities throughout the USA (particularly the West Coast).
About Me:
I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropological Perspectives. I always loved coffee and after a year of volunteering abroad in the Middle East, I came back to NY and decided to spend some time experiencing life at a coffee shop. I did not expect to become so deeply passionate and sincerely curious about the wide world of coffee culture. I am proud to have the opportunity to begin my exploration.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
the visceral pleasure of your first morning cup.
