Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
When i started my business, i barely knew how to pull a shot! But i have learned a lot over the years, and recently spent 8 months in New Zealand where i learned how to do latte art. I watch other peoples skills on youtube and then practice at work. I am training my employees how to make a latte beautiful since i believe it tastes better when it looks good!!
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I would love to eventually get into roasting my own beans and travel to the coffee countries around the world to learn more and purchase green beans straight from the local farmers.
About Me:
I have been married now for a year and a half to a wonderful New Zealander. We own our own home in FB and love being active in our church and community. I get my high from working at my shop and being able to touch peoples lives and bring them joy, caffeine and the love of Christ. I spent time away from it this year and that's when i really knew that this was my passion. I love and value community, family, and marriage. And i appreciate the way coffee shops seem to stimulate those things.
About My Company:
Wake Cup is one of the main gatherings in our little town. I started it 6 years ago after realizing the need mainly for the youth to have a place to hang. Now it is about to expand into something even bigger than i dreamed. I have learned as i went about coffee and food and business. ( I was only 20 when i started.) This month I am relocating Wake Cup into a bigger space, adding to our menu of panini sandwiches, salads and soup to draw a more expansive customer base (since we are surrounded by farmers and ranchers who want their burgers!) But i am determined to keep quality and health as main factors in our menu. I am looking for ideas and also advice on a few things while i am expanding, which is what brings me to signing up here.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
That it becomes a sober gathering place where individuals feel loved, accepted, and connected.
