    About Me:

I'm BJ and I'm a junior at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and I'm getting my B.A. in Spanish. My dad has always been a coffee drinker, though never serious about it. I spent most of my teenage years in Papua New Guinea, as my parents were missionaries. It was great to be able to drive down the road and see the coffee fields and huge blue tarps for sun drying. Thanks to my Australian best friend (in New Guinea), I discovered the magic of the French Press. When I returned to TX in 2006 to start school, my love for coffee really blossomed. For a while I was just using a $10 press and $15 grinder from Target. Almost a year ago, I got a Baratza Virtuoso and a Bodum Chambord and they have been my mainstays. The past few months I've really been getting into the wonderful world of coffee, much to the chagrin of my girlfriend and family. I recently got a Bodum Santos vac pot for Christmas and just today I bought an Aeropress. I'm hoping to get into espresso at some point when the budget allows. Sadly, TX has a shortage of great coffee houses, with only a couple I can think of (Cafe Medici in Austin, Coffee Station in College Station, White Rock Coffee in Dallas). I'm hoping that the classic "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan will apply to coffee someday soon :)

What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?

    the unending possibilities
