Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I've been a barista within a variety of settings ranging from high end downtown cafes to roster-retailer cafes and traveling event vending. I began such work using SCAA guidelines for coffee/espresso preparation, and have added to my skill base from there. I've recently graduated from the University of Oregon and have hung up my portafilters for work within the human services field, but I still do occasional guest spots at a couple cafes around town.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I'm in Portland often, and am currently looking for work in the Portland Metro Area. I love Vancouver and Victoria, BC. I welcome any reason to travel there.
About Me:
I started in the industry by testing and repairing incoming La Pavoni commercial machines for Crossroads Espresso. I eventually expanded into their sales department, and finally to their parts department. I've worked for four different roasters in my area, and I still do a fair bit of independent espresso machine repair work around town. I restore commercial espresso machines for fun, and I sell about one per year. I'm currently restoring a rare La Marzocco GS2 volumetric machine, and I've just finished a propane burning Astoria two group lever machine.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
