Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I am just getting started as a barista out in Austin, Texas. I am currently working at two cafes in downtown Austin. One cafe is letting me get some hands on experience with their 2 group Synesso Cyncra, while the other is in the process of training me to use their La Marzocco FB80. I also took some courses at the last coffee fest in Atlanta back in February. I am still getting used to the Synesso and am very excited to review the forums so that I can better understand how to dial in my skills.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I am currently living in a 26 ft 1960s airstream trailer. I left South Florida and hit coffee fest in Atlanta, before checking out Charleston and New Orleans. I settled in to Austin and am having a blast learning the scene here. I am open to more travel in the future; however at this time I am trying to get the most experience that I can behind the machine at the two cafes that I currently work for.
About Me:
I was on a completely different occupational trajectory as I obtained my Undergrad, MBA, law degree, and Florida Bar Admission in September. However, during the past year I found myself becoming more and more interested/infatuated with specialty coffee. As a result, I decided to take a year to decided if being a member of the specialty coffee industry is my true passion.
About My Company:
I currently work for Juan Pelota and Barley Bean in Austin, Texas. I eventually would like to start my own company in the future.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
