    About Me:

Local Roots Co-op is a member and community owned grocery market committed to serving our world by serving our neighbor. As such, we strive our utmost to give preference to local goods and services rather than those of a more remote origin. The reasons for doing so are manifold: * Every dollar spent at a community-based business creates a multiplier effect which creates at least three times its value in the local economy. * We can no longer trust that a product labeled organic is indeed organic. Supporting local farmers enables us to ensure that our food is truly organic and GMO free. * Support of local businesses contributes to a democratic economy, wherein every dollar we spend becomes a vote for how we want the world to be. • Local Roots Co-op is operated as a cooperative with a volunteer staff and a minimum number of paid workers. • The Co-op consists of the grocery and produce departments. • Other departments will be assigned to Cooperative Partners: independent businesses functioning within the Co-op. • These departments will begin with but not be limited to: o A Bakery o A Coffee and Juice Bar o A Holistic Health Department with Vitamins & Supplements • The Co-op and Cooperative Partners will share a single Point of Sale system and the services of the volunteer and paid staff of the Co-op. In return for these services, the Cooperative Partners will be responsible for a portion of the rent and utilities as well as up to 10% of their gross sales. • The aim is not to compete with, but to complement other local businesses, so that residents and visitor alike will be able to satisfy a full spectrum of needs within our own community. We are now trying to fill the Cooperative Partnership of the Coffee and Juice bar.
