I got into the coffee industry by attrition after my brother died unexpectedly, leaving a young indie coffee shop to his wife. She needed a family member to take over the operation and I gladly stepped in. Little did I know what the whole experience would mean to me. I love the culture of coffee and the community created in coffee shops.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
All of them!
About Me:
I am older than most of the baristas I know and despite my years in the industry I am a novice, willing and able to learn more about everything from seed to cup. I am married and have a son in college. I am one of eleven kids with two younger brothers and both parents deceased. I drink pour over at home, with my Clever as my go-to brewing method. Also love my Chemex!
About My Company:
I no longer own or manage, but wish I did. The economy and the big green box moving in killed our little shop. Meanwhile, I just started working at a new shop...sadly, their focus is more on the food with the joe being somewhat incidental. I am hoping to move them towards a higher level of coffee production.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Community!!! I love the culture of community.
