Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.

I started my career in Seattle in the mid 80's as a Barista for Starbucks when it was a 5 store chain. My next move was to Visions Espresso Service where I served as the service manager, technician and trainer. In 1992 i was hired by illy caffe North America as a technical managerfor the pacific NW. In my 33 years with illy I have also been a branch sales manager, a quality Assurance Msnager and currently an the Sr. Manager of Education and Quaity Assurance where i use all my skills. Training,teaching and sharing my knowledge while continuing to learn new things.

Never thought I would make coffee my career but most of my career has been dedicated to my love of coffee. Maybe it is the scandinavian heritage... I started drinking coffee at age 9. My mom made cafe aulait using a moka pot and a small enameled pitcher she used to heat the milk in. Although my job encompasses a wide variety of responsibilities, teaching Baristas and sharing my experiance and knowledge and watching students skill and confidence grow is what drives me
