What is your position in the coffee industry?

barista, manager, coffee shop owner, coffee roaster, industry professional, supplier

Where are you located? ( City and Country )

    Manhattan, KS

How many years have you been in the industry?

    1

If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?

    yes

Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.

I've been at Radina's coffeehouse and roasterie for 1 year. As soon as I was hired I fell in love with the job and also have started learning other trades in our store like baking and roasting, though I wouldn't consider myself either. We're located in a college town so we sell our fair share of mochas, but coffee enthusiasts make up a majority of out clientele. We pride ourselves on the freshness, speed and quality.

What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?

In January I'm moving to New York City. I would also love to travel to Turkey, India, Italy, Brasil, Guatemala, France, Thailand & Mexico. I hope to one day end up living in New Mexico or Oregon.

    About Me:

I'm a senior at Kansas State University studying ceramics and women's studies and work full time as a barista. I enjoy baking and cooking when I'm not at the shop or in studio. I became interested in the coffee industry after becoming part of our campus Fair Trade Advocate group. I am still involved in fair trade and am the cafe's "fair trade consultant". Currently, I'm volunteering a company representative for a Guatemalan weaving cooperative. I would love to one day work directly with coffee cooperatives.

What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?

The connections I make with my regulars, practicing latte art and lines that go out the door.
