What is your position in the coffee industry?

    barista, coffee shop owner

Where are you located? ( City and Country )

    Quetzaltenango, Guatemala

How many years have you been in the industry?

    14 months

If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?

    yes

Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.

My Guatemalan husband and I have an espresso bar on the campus of a small Jesuit University. We´re intent on promoting a new coffee culture here in Quetzaltenango by serving high quality coffee and by organizing coffee-related activities for the university population and public in general. Internationally Guatemala may be known for its exceptional coffee, but in-country its known for what´s commonly referred to as "dirty sock water" or "agua de calcetín." We´re trying to change that, one cup at a time. Both of us are baristas and love this newly found profession. We are constantly trying to improve our barista skills and are definitely into an exchange.

What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?

    Portland, Oregon

    About Me:

I´m from the U.S., but have lived and worked in Mexico and Guatemala for the past 25 years. I spent most of those years involved in emergency/community development projects, but two years ago decided that I needed a drastic change. First I opened a small, specialty bakery, Repostería Di Carlo, then Sergio and I opened Café Baristeando. I am loving my new life as baker and barista.

    About My Company:

We´re a small family business just 14 months old

What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?

I´m always learning. Also, the social aspect of being a barista and café owner.
