Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I developed a great interest in coffee when I volunteered for The Common Grounds Cafe in Belfast. The Common Grounds is a not-for-profit organisation which donates all its profits to community projects. After receiving barista training at Bailies, a local coffee roaster, I became a real coffee addict and wanted to become a professional barista. I first worked for an independent coffee shop and after closure of the store I have recently gained employment with a local independent coffee chain. Barista is a profession that fits very well with my previous experience. I used to work in fashion and retail, and can now use my creativity and other transferrable skills - such as attention to quality and detail, or customer service skills - for a new career in the coffee industry.
