About Me:
Rodrigo Ontaneda: an insurance businessman by training & conservation practitioner & eco-entrepreneur, who founded the Maquipucuna Foundation in Ecuador back in 1988, and came up with the idea of establishing a roasting business abroad, starting in the USA in 2004, as a mechanism for marketing our SHG arabica coffee growing in our own land of Orongo, Pichincha province, since 1999. Besides the same type of coffee we promoted along the rainforests Andean mountains of northern and southern Ecuador, south America, since the 90's.
About My Company:
1000 Faces Coffee is a wonderfully beautiful micro-roaster based in Athens, Georgia. I/We source as directly from farmers as anyone in the world. I am actually coffee grower, born and raised in Ecuador, south America. In 2010, 1000 Faces Coffee was selected as one of three finalists for Roaster of the Year by Roast Magazine and won "2009 Runner up - Micro Coffee Roaster of the Year". Our main coffee sourcing Cafe Choco Andes has been Featured by The World Institute of Slowness as "The Slow-Production-Coffee' World-Model".
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
It is a great income alternative to deforestation in Latin America
