What is your position in the coffee industry?

    barista

Where are you located? ( City and Country )

    Richmond, VA

How many years have you been in the industry?

    6

If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?

    maybe

Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.

Every new company I work for teaches me something new, directly or indirectly, about the industry. The cafe I work for now is pretty directly teaching me new things constantly about the coffee itself, which is something I'd love to learn even more about.

What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?

Honestly, location doesn't matter to me. It could be anywhere; it's more of what I would be doing there and how that would help my knowledge and skill of everything coffee.

    About Me:

I am a senior in college. My 16th birthday was my first shift at my first cafe, and nothing has made me happier since. I am a coffee snob, but I don't know enough about it to suggest I can do anything but learn from those around me. I realize this sounds pretentious. I might very well be pretentious, but it's also honest.

    About My Company:

We do a lot of really amazing things. Richmond is a difficult place to work with coffee- there are a large number of great cafes, but many of them want the "look and feel" of a typical hipster college coffee-spot, and are less concerned with the quality of barista. The Black Hand hired me for skill and enthusiasm, and while I'm not supposed to scream it (as much as I may want to, our manager wants to keep it classy and word-of-mouth), we have some pretty damn excellent product, and a constant drive to do better, which I find absolutely wonderful.

What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?

If you have six hours, I'd love to tell you all about it.
