Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
My barista skills focus around calibrating machines and training others. I have a very scientifically minded approach to coffee preparation, rather than a production minded approach necessary during a rush at a busy shop. I make graphs and charts, taste with a cupping form, and measure everything carefully. I am especially concerned with coffee science and working with the million variables of consistent production.
About Me:
I am a chocolate, wine and coffee enthusiast. I spent many years as a barista and coffee shop manager, as well as professional cook and amateur baker. I have been involved in the slow food movement, sustainable agriculture, and living a simple life. Now my life is taken up by the Ministry, rebuilding neglected equipment and my sweet daughter.
About My Company:
I am part of Ministry of Espresso, a company focused on supporting the specialty coffee industry by helping industry professionals get the most out of their business. We offer technical support for equipment, provide independent quality control and training in coffee and food service, and financial management consultation.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
I have never seen the devotion to manufacturers of coffee related gear in any other sector of the food service industry at large. It is beautiful how passionate industry professionals generally are around so few ingredients.
