Any and all! Once Velton's Coffee is more firmly established (we're still in our first year), I hope to be able to travel extensively for a variety of industry-related concerns.
About Me:
I'm 37, married, and a proud father to a 16 month old little girl (Esme!) we adopted from Guatemala last December. I have a variety of interests and hobbies including reading, writing, painting, sports, fishing, and - naturally - embracing the world of coffee.
About My Company:
I have been in the coffee industry for close to 19 years, and still am passionate about all-things-coffee! Recently I took the bold step of leaving a secure post as head roaster for a growing and successful local company to start my own thing (and to carve a niche in my own particular way) - and thus Velton's Coffee Roasting Company was born. It's been a challenging year, what with starting up with limited resources and no accounts to speak of (we are a wholesale and internet based company at present), but every month has shown growth and an increased interest in what Velton's Coffee is all about. Which, of course, happens to be roasting premium grade, competition worthy coffees! For me, the best thing about having a career in the coffee industry is that it is ever evolving, and thus provides each and every one of us infinite opportunity to continually accrue knowledge, and make an impact. That, and the people; our industry seems to be filled with open-minded, caring, gregarious individuals, and these are certainly the type of people I wish to surround myself with. I'm happy to be a part of this community, and look forward to many great discussions on this site.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
This industry is saturated with artistic and passionate people! I'm always proud to talk about what I do.
