Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I haven't had any professional training, mainly learning by hands on and from coworkers. I would love to learn all that I can about coffee, from harvesting, processing and roasting, to improving my brewing skills.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I'm more interested in Latin America, coffee from Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama and Guatemala, and anywhere in between. Of course, in the US, and big coffee town like Portland would be a big experience for me.
About Me:
I've been a big coffee fan from my first year in college, when I started falling asleep in class. I have a bachelors degree in Food and Beverage Management, but decided that a coffee shop was more suitable for my personality. Usually I'm very shy and reserved, but I have found another side of me by interacting with customers from behind the counter. Although I recognize the many imperfections of the coffee industry, the more I learn by reading the more intrigued I am.
About My Company:
Right now I'm working as a barista for Hacienda San Pedro, a coffee company in Puerto Rico, that vertically integrates coffee production, from harvesting in Jayuya, one of the highest town on the island, to processing, roasting and distributing, and finally, two coffee shops serving the masses.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Above all, I love the bean itself.
