Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.

I became facinated with the coffee industry while I was a student in college. My search for free wi-fi led me to numerous locations around the Salt Lake Valley, where I was able to taste various coffees and espresso roasts. Soon, my nose and palate developed into quite sophisticated tools. In 2007, I took a part time job at a local coffee company, and soon progressed to a supervisor where my skill for teaching and mentoring others was soon discovered. Being in the coffee industry led me to an interest in coffee growing, roasting and preparation. I regularly purchase coffee books to increase my knowledge, and I am exploring new and better ways to enjoy "the perfect cup." After obtaining my bachelor's degree in Health Education, I began taking an interest in the health properties of coffee and plan to study caffeine's affect on the human body. Currently, I am working two jobs, one of which is for Starbucks coffee company. The longer I am affiliated with the coffee industry, the more ideas I procure about "the perfect coffee shop" and the newest coffee innovations and businesses. One day I hope to be more involved in the roasting process, or possibly, owning a business of my own. In the health field, I possess a strong ability to train, teach and give presentations, and I hope that one day I will be able to use these skills to share my coffee passion with others.

About Me:

I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am a nutritionist by day and a coffee barista and enthusiest the rest of the time. I love animals, and in my spare time, I love to go to Zumba and Yoga classes. I am a very detail oriented and organized person, and I love to help and teach others. I currently possess a bachelor's degree in Consumer Health Promotion and Education with a nutrition minor, and I hope to, one day, own a coffee shop and somehow incorporate a health aspect. I am very articulate and love to write, and have dreamed about writing books about various topics.
