- About Me:
- I inherited my love of coffee from my mother. As a kid in the 70’s she would take me to bookstores which often had a Café. before browsing the stacks, she would drink her black coffee and I would savor my hot coco with real whip cream.
College is where I picked up the coffee habit - double espressos became mandatory before each class.
Over the years I saw the idea of independent shops fall out of favor and the experience of coffee was sweeter but not the same.
I traveled to Costa Rica for an understanding of Coffee from the ground up. Being on those farms and seeing how hard people worked to harvest and process this seed sparked a new passion in me: renew the independent spirit of small business and support community based shops. As I began to look around for roasters and hand brewing methods I had seen in CR I found a movement already afoot in my own back yard. I learned of waves, barista competitions, direct trade and the existing positive influence SF Bay area people have on this industry.
It was hiding in plain site – Now that I am illuminated, I throw my hat into the ring. I want pass the torch and spark others to join the revival of specialty coffee and the movement towards quality, from seed to cup.
