- I have lived about half of my life in Haiti and the other half in the US. I am also engaged in environmental protection activities in Haiti.
- About My Company:
- Arawak Coffee is pleased to present Haïtian coffees of only the highest quality. By offering these excellent coffees our goal is to once again make Haïti a specialty gourmet coffee market leader.
Our 100% arabica coffee is shade grown high in the mountains by small-holder farmers who employ mixed-use plots. It is grown with natural fertilizer and is pesticide free, hand-picked, sun-dried, hand-sorted, and then small-batch roasted and packaged at our facilities.
The use of natural fertilizer and no pesticides protects not only you, the consumer, but also the cultivators as well as the environment. We do not use any type of mechanical picking nor do we use any coffee which has been grown on large plantations where trees have been clear-cut. The result of this entire process is a delicious nature-friendly coffee which is guaranteed to sate the palate of even the most critical coffee connoisseur.
By promoting these coffees our goal is to ensure that as much of the value added benefits from Haiti's own coffee production, such as jobs and economic opportunity stay within Haïti, or is returned to Haïti, to benefit the local coffee growers and encourage the protection and sustainable use of Haïti's resources and environment.
