Well if you truly have a solid concept of roasting or someone to guide you, and youve read everything you possibly could find about the quest, then you should definitely get one. Easily worth the price.
Also be aware that you can burn your house down with the quest if you have no idea, what your doing. The hottop has safety features which prevent that. You also can ruining your heating element is a quest, where the hottop wont let you do that.
Just thought it would be responsible of me to give you the flip side as well. Have you ever roasted coffee? You should have an idea of what you are doing before purchasing the quest. Im not a roasting god by any means, but a do have a basic understanding of roasting, and how to control the quest.
Hah, that sounds like an awesome idea. :-) I'm still in Indiana at the moment, then back to Arkansas to see some fam, and then hopefully I'll be back in PDX by September. Can't wait to be back.
Hope you find something before you have to, you know, pay rent or something. hah
