What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager, coffee shop owner, barista trainer, home barista, coffee enthusiast, entrepreneur
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Ogden, Utah United States
How many years have you been in the industry?
My wife Sadie and I have been in the coffee industry for over five years.
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
maybe
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
We own the Grounds For Coffee on Historic 25th Street in the down town historic district of Ogden Utah. It's a very quaint, friendly and relaxing place to come have a great cup of coffee, catch up with friends and meet other coffee lovers. We have a different featured artists each month who displays his/her paintings, photography etc. in our shop. Ogden puts on an Art Stroll the first Friday of every month and we are proud to be a part of that as well. It's a great way for our artists to get their work exposed to the public. We also feature live music most Saturday nights during the summer. We were recently voted as one of the Top Ten Places to Visit by the DewTour when they held their snowboard competition at Snowbasin last January.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
All of them! Really though, my favorite would be Italy. We would like to see all of Europe and Asia. Africa, Australia and New Zealand would be cool too. I think India would be an interesting place to visit as well. Honestly I don't think there is a continent or island wouldn't want to visit.
About Me:
Well, Sadie and I met about three years ago at the Grounds For Coffee on 30th and Harrison in Ogden where she worked at the time. I lived around the corner and was in there all the time doing homework or using the internet. Over time I had made a few friends who worked there. After a year or two they finally convinced Sadie and I to go on a date. We were both interested in each other but never really did anything about it. Sadie was the brave one who finally got up the nerve to ask me out. We went out and obviously everything went well. About a year later I asked her if she would like to open a coffee shop together. She loved the idea so we began looking for a place to buy.

After a year of searching we hadn't found a place. We made a few offers and even had a shop sold out from underneath us. When the owners of the Grounds For Coffee franchise made us an offer we couldn't refuse. They offered us the Grounds on Historic 25th Street. They had too many shops going and were looking for someone to take over that location. We jumped on it and have been running it ever since. We love it and are very proud of what we have accomplished with it over the past year.
About My Company:
We love our company. We strive very hard to make it a place that our baristas and customers want to come to everyday and love as much as we do. We feel we have created a family at our shop and everyone who comes in is a part of it.

We have worked hard to make sure we serve the freshest coffee we can. We use the best local roaster in the area. We receive our freshly roasted coffee beans every week. Then only grind them right before we brew to ensure that our customers get the very best coffee we can make.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
All the great people who have made it the best industry to work in. And of course the coffee itself. Without it we would all be out of a job.
