Australian Barista Championships

Hi everyone!

Congatulations to Tim Adams from Queensland Australia, who will be represesnting us in Atlanta in April!

Tim managed to defeat me by just 10 points. He really was very good, how could I not be proud of such a lovely and humble guy who is completely self taught. Well done Tim!

Now back to me... I'd like to thank a few people. First of all my amazing BF David Makin who has been not just an incredibly dedicated coach, but a genuine, caring friend even when I… Continue

Australian Open 5 days to go.

Well with just 5 days to go until I strut my stuff on the stage for the open round of the Australian Barista Championships, I am starting to wonder if I am either too organized or something very vital has been forgotten. My grinder and equipment have all been sent on a pallet to Queensland, all we have to do is lug about 30kg of coffee up with us on the flight ( not quite as much as we took to Denmark for Dave's world gig).

After finishing second in the Victorian Comp, I'm really… Continue

WBC Judges Certification

Posted on January 16, 2009 at 3:41am 1 Comment

Congratulations to all the judges who passed the WBC judges certification. Dave said it was quite challenging. I was lucky enough to be there as a barista where I was able to get a real insight into the level of judging that is expected, as well as a taste of how much judging has the potential to improve more over the next few years.
Thank you to Emily, Brent, Justin, Chris, volunteers, judges and Box Hill Tafe for an enjoyable, exhausting and rewarding couple of days.

Hiya, Cant wait to see you work your stuff up on stage again. Last time I saw you perform you were doing "The Chicken", so looking for something a little different this time! ;-)

For hotels in Atlanta we have spent all of our New Zealand Peso's on just getting there so we have been advised to pack a pillow, roll of duct tape and a cardboard box? Emma assures me she will be able to do something with this, so your best bet will be to contact her. emma@nzcra.org.nz
