Green Mountain Coffee Roasters shells out $905 million.

Waterbury, Vermont - December 17, 2010

A major shake up in the coffee industry Friday.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has finalized a deal to buy the Canadian coffee company Van Houtte for $905 million.

Van Houtte employs nearly 2,000 people at its Montreal facility.

These major shake ups are becoming more common with the coffee industry's big commercial players doing like many other business do, expanding by acquisition.
