Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I worked at the Ugly Mug Cafe for almost three years, and in addition to being the most laid back, savagely dedicated, and nurturing environment I have worked in, the opportunities I was given at the Mug would be practically impossible to find anywhere else. For example, there is a small 7 kilo roaster in the back of the shop where they do all of the roasting for our cafe and a small number of wholesale accounts. When, a few years ago, I wanted to learn how to roast, the owner and head roaster immediately started training me, hands-on, for the next several months. This is only possible because of such a small and capable staff, and because we are all so supportive of each other and proud of what we do. I hope I can edit this more later, because I'm not very creative right now...
