About Me:
I am native to Arizona and I LOVE it here. I have family in Alaska and Austin, TX. If you haven't been to either place - you really must! My family and I enjoy camping and exploring the great outdoors. One thing I look forward to every year is taking the kids to culinary festivals, art festivals, music festivals - all festivals! My wonderful husband and I love to find new places to indulge in culinary treasures. Two of our faves are Postinos in Phoenix & T Cooks at the Royal Palms. I love to watch cooking and travel shows such as Andrew Zimmermans Bizzare Foods.

My first job as a barista was before we were considered as such here in America (back in the early 90's). I worked at Gloria Jeans in Scottsdale Fashion Square for about 3 years. After I married we moved to California were I continued as a barista at Me and Charlie's in Fallbrook. While my kids were growing up, I worked as an administrative assistant but always knew I would come back to coffee. Now that they are in school full-time, here I am doing what I've always wanted to. It is funny how quickly those skills all came back to me. I strive to learn all I can about coffee and seem to research it daily. My main focus right now at work is learning latte' art.
About My Company:
What an exciting place to work. Not only have I learned to steam milk almost perfectly - but I am learning latte' art! It doesn't stop there either! My knowledge of wine is slowly growing too. I am so very excited about this venture! Press is all about bringing the coffee culture of Seattle to Phoenix. Not only do we have coffee cuppings and wine tastings but soon we will host the first of many latte art throw downs in Phoenix! That is what it is all about great coffee, great food and great wine! Not to mention great people! Press Coffee Food Wine at CityNorth in North Phoenix.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Most definately the customers! I love making someones day just a little brighter. A very close second is the creative process of the drink itself!

Hi Carrie,

The Press looks bad ass! And yes Austin is a fun city for sure, my brother lives there. Anyways, I started up a civet coffee (kopi luwak) company while I was in the Peace Corps in the Philippines. Its the rarest coffee in the world, and the business supports the same tribal community I was assigned to work with. Check out the website

Take care and drop me a line sometime.

Hi Carrie. Press looks like a fun place. Do you sell wine by the glass, or just bottled?
Do you get to learn about wines like baristas learn about coffees?

Thanks Carrie, for your response. A quick search on the net and I found it! http://www.espressovivace.com/retail.html
I am not surprised that it is in Seattle! I hope to commission artwork for a new enterprise in Washington DC - the mosaics are inspired. Thanks for posting the pic.
