What is your position in the coffee industry?
coffee shop owner, coffee roaster
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Portland, Oregon
How many years have you been in the industry?
22
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
maybe
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I have four coffee shops in the Portland Oregon metro area. Shops are a combination of quality in atmosphere and quality in products. As a roaster retailer we look for flavor profile in the cup and sustainable nature of the coffee.

Equipment in the coffee shops are Fetco Drip Brewers, La Marzocco Linea and GB-5.
About Me:
My first job in the coffee business was delivering to vending machines. My first cup was from a freeze dried RMI Office brewer. Wasn't enough cream or sugar to make it tast good. Our business was a family run operation back in the late 80's. Since then we began roasting on a Sivetz 30# and opened 4 retail shops. I enjoy participating in many of the industry trade shows and sharing ideas from other industry folks.
About My Company:
World Cup is a specialty coffee roaster, retailer and office coffee service company. We specialize in sourcing great coffees, providing great quality products and superior customer service. We are a family owned company with my father and myself. Our main focus is on the quality of the bean on the cupping table. We also have a high concern for the sustainable nature of the coffee.

Dan; The Gene Cafe measures air temperature not bean temp. The clear "shield" is just a safety unit, I haven't found any difference in the roast weither it is up or down. I tilt it up so I can get a better view of the beans as they progress through the roasting stages.
I received the unit (bought it from Burman Coffee Traders) about a week before Christmas and have run close to 60 batches so far. For my application, as a home roaster and someone that had zero experience, the Gene Cafe has been great.

Thanks for watching my video.

I've been doing really well the last few days at steaming milk and latte art has been great because of that. It would still be great it you had that article on it to possibly fine tune it even more.

Dan- yes illy was the mentors of mentors - I was so blessed to have the small times I had with him. He was a humble man with wisdom that was 1000 times anyone I have ever met - we all have lost an irreplaceable figurehead. Thanks for your kind words...
