Welcome, Lucie Monroe's Coffee Company “Set a new course. There's coffee in that nebula.”

Profile Information

What is your position in the coffee industry?
manager, coffee shop owner, barista trainer, coffee enthusiast
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Christiansburg, Virginia Moving from Muncie, Indiana
How many years have you been in the industry?
2 years and counting
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
Still consider myself a novice, having only two years experience in owning my own coffee shop. I was trained under Chris Deferio at the Coffee Institute in Muncie IN. Alliance World Coffee is where I got my roots to roast to cup knowledge and love for the good stuff. Our shop is building relationships with community & other shops around the SouthEast area. We held our first Brew Down at Lucie Monroe's with LM Barista's competing against one another. We had local roasters as judges from Red Rooster Roasters & Easy Chair.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Ireland, London, Guetamala, Italy, Costa Rica, Honduras, Africa, Brazil, okay this could go on for days....Seattle, California, Vegas, Colorado...see I told you!
About Me:
Random...very random! I am always busy and I like to stay that way. I have a free spirit and I laugh a lot! I love my family, the God Almighty, the outdoors, running, guitar, blues music and drinking...lots of coffee. I am crazy about my boxer Lucie Monroe, and sadly I have become a coffee snob! I am currently letting go of 15 years of teaching at a high school to go into the WORLD of SPECIALTY coffee and tea. Soooooooo much to learn, but it has been a desire to make really good coffee and be among'st the coffee people since my 1st experience in a small coffee house in Richmond IN, called Java Jazz...
About My Company:
We are very SOULFUL...a place for community. Creativity, and of course EXCELLENT COFFEE flow through our veins here! We are constantly trying to stay on the cutting edge where coffee and community is concerned. Our food menu is driven around the organic and the health concious. We work with a licensed dietician for all our specialty drinks and foods. We want all things coffee minded!
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Passionate people with a love for COMMUNITY & GOOD COFFEE!

Pulp Fiction Coffee Experience

Jules, Vincent and Jimmie are drinking coffee in Jimmie's kitchen]
Jules: Mmmm!, Jimmie! This is some serious gourmet shit! Usually, me and Vince would be happy with some freeze-dried Taster's Choice right, but he springs this serious GOURMET shit on us! What flavor is this?
Jimmie: Knock it off, Julie.
Jules: [pause] What?
Jimmie: I don't need you to tell me how *%$# good my coffee is, okay? I'm the one who buys it. I know how good it is. When Bonnie goes shopping she buys SHIT. I buy the gourmet expensive stuff because when I drink it I want to taste it. But you know what's on my mind right now? It AIN'T the coffee in my kitchen, it's the dead guy in my garage.
