About Me:
My name is Julie Douglass. I'm an anthropologist who decided to open a store rather than stay in academia. My husband is a retired anthropologist and businessman. My hobbies are travel, reading, fly fishing, gardening, and aquariums, including reef tanks and sea horses. I own a fair trade handcrafts store in Reno Nevada. Having a cafe has always been a dream of mine. I'd like to emphasize fair trade and sustainable coffees at "Fairly Grounded". I have a website at artisansfairtrade.com.
About My Company:
I want to offer excellent coffee in a cosy atmosphere. I own a domain (fairlygrounded.com) but don't have a website there yet.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?

Julie... fishing in Manaus, wow. I only realized, a few years ago, how many organized fishing trips-tours-vacations there were to the Northeast. Our family fazenda (cattle) is in Goias, and I've fished both lake and river. If I can make it happen, I'll be back visiting family in August or September. The decision for me is how much time I want visiting coffee fazendas versus spending time "on the water fishing." Essentially, they're in opposite directions. This is not an easy choice!

Thanks for the hello, Julie! Washington is great! I'll be back in Reno for a few weeks starting the 11th. See you sometime soon, I'm sure.

Julie,
Thank you for adding me as a friend. It is a special honor to get to know other shop owners and hear there story. We all have much more in common than most think. Nice to see a class of business like yours get set up in Reno. Another great reason to take some time off.
Have a great coffee day,
Joseph

Julie you should get your shop on here. Anytime, if ever, these bX-ers come through Reno, they may check here for places to stop. Just a thought.

Hi Joey,
I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to meet you when you stopped by the store. I will definitely come by Walden's soon. Fairly Grounded should be open by September 1 (construction is finally finished but I have to leave town for a couple of weeks). I look forward talking coffee!

Hi julie! My name's Joey and I work at Walden's Coffeehouse. Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I'm looking forward to Fairly Grounded! I truly admire the idea behind it all and it's exciting to know you have the ABC training to back it all up. I'd love for you to stop by Walden's some time.
