Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.

My style is very raw and down to earth, weather I stand as a Barista or as manager. For example, I've never had to learn how to do "latte art" (!), but my latte and cappuccino quality is by no means diminished by that. In fact, I am quite a perfectionist when it comes to serving any coffee drink.

I insist on and live well in a coffee shop that is well rounded in product quality, customer service, consistent welcoming atmosphere, and original and efficient advertisement.
I believe that all these aspects have to be nurtured for the health of the company, and for the pleasure of both workers and customers.
I do some advertisement as well for our company, including designing menus, flyers and boards. Amusingly, I have developed great skills in chalkboard art and Poster-Paint Sharpie window-painting!...

About Me:

I am originally from Quebec, Canada (French Speaking), but have been living in the Carolinas for over 5 years. I would do such a thing (and have done) as moving to a different state for the love of a coffee shop and its indwelling community.
I have been the Manager at The Midnight Rooster Coffee Shop in Hartsville SC for two and a half years. The Owners, Jessie and Jeremy Smith, are guilty for making me fall in love with Hartsville and The Midnight Rooster Coffee Shop and Eatery. I am thankful to them.

About My Company:

We proudly use Jim's Organic Coffee as our coffee bean provider.
The Coffee Shop opened in the fall of 2002. The building dates back to the 1920's. After housing many different businesses, the building has been redesigned and restored with unique vision for The Midnight Rooster. The Coffee Shop's unique atmosphere is infused with a surprising mixture of modern industrial decor, long-lost family heirlooms, and sail boats, which attracts everyone from students to businessmen, tea-parties and live bands, bridals showers and Bible studies, to Sailors, Pirates and sometimes Aliens during our Anniversary Costumes Parties.

The "Rooster" also has an Eatery with a beautiful Courtyard, which my friend Tammy manages.

What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?

The fragrance resulting from pulling the first espresso shot of the day.
