What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager, barista trainer
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
East Perth
How many years have you been in the industry?
2
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
Fell in love with the industry after being made redundant from the mind numbing sales industry. I had an epiphany after trying a single origin yirgacheffe made for me by the Western Australian champion. I kept up the interest and landed a job as a Barista Manager in a small french style cafe in Perth. I make about 300 cups of various speciality coffee a day. I like what I do. And life has changed for me. One day I hope to use my sales skills and the knowledge learned from being a head barista and promote a top quality brand of coffee.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Anywhere without explosions
About Me:
All around pretty good guy, with a good sense of humour. A good listener and communicator respectful and capable of great things. I never saw myself doing what I do, never in my wildest dreams, but I am happy that I do. I hope one day to move on into the world of specialty coffee. The repetition of making coffee day to day. can be a little hard. Hence the reason to move from within one day. Small update I manage a new cafe now. Moving on up to the east Side. Head Barista and also manage the place. We open very soon
About My Company:
I dont have a company
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Single origins

In Bukit Sentul (Bogor), West java. Its where the Indo roastery is. Not too far from Jakarta, but far enough thank god. Spend a good part of my time travelling around- we work direct with farmers where and whenn possible and it takes up a lot of time. The Papua trip was a good example. I like the Sumatrans in SOS's- but the Papuans are something else!

Cheers Steve. I guess it just proves it is a small world. I am originally from NZ and actually spent a year 89/90 in Summit County, CO. Was awesome. Been up this way for over a decade now and have never been to Perth. No excuse really, on my to to list for 2010. If you head up this way let me know!

So Steve, are you an Aussie who went to school in Colorado, or a Coloradian who ended up as a Barista in WA? Or...neither of the above options? :)) Its what I love about BX!

Morning ...hi Steve every day is a good day !
Athens is cloudy and busy !
I'm lucky cause every morning i wake up with a double (single origin) espresso ! But when im on run on street in coffee shops, cafe, etc the situation change dramatically for my taste !
You know ,low cost coffee blends, low budget staff, cause they think that they earn more !
Anyway I'll enjoy my last Tarrazu for the moment ...everything is perfect.
Chears ,enjoy your day !
