What is your position in the coffee industry?
barista, manager
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
statesville, NC, USA
How many years have you been in the industry?
4
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I'm currently managing The Second Fret Coffeehouse and Music Hall here in Statesvegas-We opened our doors almost six months ago, and we are really stoked to be a part of the downtown community, especially with the college just a block away. The local music scene has also been very welcoming to our new lil' place, so we have a full roster of entertainment every weekend.
We LOVE being one of the few shops in town that offers all organic, fair-trade coffees, and are very much enjoying the Brazilian Daterra espresso we've been slingin'. I am trying to implement positve impact changes to cut down on waste from our facility, and will continue to be on the lookout for better ways to do so. I am also interested in furthering my skills as a barista, taking them to the HNL, so to speak, and so that's probably what you will find me doing if you drop by the shop!
PS
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Portland, OR, Brazil, Guatemala, Peru, Christiana, England, Costa Rica, lots of others
About Me:
I became interested in the specialty coffee industry because of it's link to the fair trade community, and as I learned more about the background, the history, the tradition, the care and love which are bestowed upon the process to create the finest end product, I became fascinated with the whole journey, and I wanted to be a part of that. The birth of a coffee nerd. Then, when I realized that there was a whole community of people that had made this passion their life, I really wanted to take my basic knowledge and skills, and try and build to the level of expertise that I see others acheive in this field. So here I am!
