Just curious as to opinions on how people are pouring on the V60!!!! What ratios, bloom times, are you pouring straight down,?? In counter clockwise circles? On the edge? What?!!  Video links would be helpful! I'm using one method nowcand want to know what's out there?

I've been playing around with relatively small brews.  13 grams of coffee and 200 grams of water.  It's around a 1:16 ratio but the way I brew it's really closer to 1:17.  

 

Prewet the filter to ramp up your v60's temp.  Dump your dose, do a shake to settle, and begin creating your bloom by pouring in double your dose grams weight.  In this particular case it's about 26-30 grams, and give it the standard 25-30 seconds. 

 

From here I think comes the variance between brewer to brewer.  I begin by carefully pouring another 70 grams of water in a slow and circular motion, pushing the coffee to the edges of the walls.  This brings us to 100 grams of water used.  From this point, I'll let the coffee drop just enough to allow me to pour 25 gram increments until I've hit my 200 grams of water.  The brew time is usually around 2:00 to 2:30 and the results have been pretty good and consistent. 

For me the dose is completely variable depending on the nuances of the specific bean I'm using... It's worth it to play with both dose and grind for each unique coffee you get.  And sort of like how you dial in espresso often, it's good to keep adjusting it as you taste it if it's losing any nuances you enjoyed from it.

 

I know this might sound crazy to some people, but give a full minute bloom a shot.  After you wet the grounds allow a full 60 seconds to pass before you begin the rest of your pour. When I was first told to try this I was very skeptical and also missed how "pretty" the grounds looked when you began to pour into them earlier, like say after 30 seconds.  But after a few taste comparisons I was a full convert to a longer bloom.

 

I also weigh the water rather than going on a visual of volume.
