I have often heard it said that good work and good relationships are the key to one's happiness. I certainly have found that in my life when these two priorities are met, my happiest states have been achieved.
However, as of late, being behind the counter has not been as personally rewarding as it once was. I feel a bit stagnant- like the impact I am having on my community wasn't what it once was or that even if it is, this level of impact is no longer enough.
So, I have set into mind several goals: namely, start working directly with artisan coffee roasters to see things from their more global directed eyes and begin physical training for my bicycle ride across the United States from Athens, Georgia to Seattle, Washington.
Is there anyone else out there who feels like coffee-centric careers are more than just jobs and more like a spiritual practice?
