We just opened our shop in November and we thought we had made a good decision on the POS system we chose. But we have had a lot of problems with it. So we need to figure out how we can return it. I would like to get feedback from other coffee shop owners and managers on which POS system works well and for a reasonable price. Thanks for your help!

I have used Selby Soft for 5 years and I am  in Ohio eastern standard time I was having a problem with gift cards not working in the a.m. we open at 6 which is 3 in the morning in washington state where Selby soft is. I had the number to call and woke them up a number of times they always answered and fixed the problem. They traced it back to someone else closing there system at the same time I was opening. The point being even being in a different time zone they where always their to help and fixed the problem. And I would want a chance to clear my name if someone wrote something that one of my employees did that no one made me aware of. Also the price for support is right in line I have had the support contract for all 5 years I missed the deadline and they called me three weeks later and reinstated it for the 750 price.

Hey Curtis,

I've sent you an email about your issue here.  I'm a little confused as we had no messages from you this weekend according to our logs.  Additionally it looks like the last two calls were from 3/20 and 11/28.   Please call me or shoot me an email and we can see where we can help.

The Selbysoft product is very clunky, antiquated, and hard to use.  The support is very limited, I was told that my issue "wasn't an emergency so if you would call back, that would be great".   I guess if you work on the west coast, and during their hours, you can get support.  I am selling mine after 6 months.

Point of sale should be done on the iPad! It's better and cheaper. What more can you ask for!?

It looks like the iPad is the way to go, but which system? I have good things about Shopkeep...any other suggestions/positive experiences?

Almost two yer old system failed today - maybe power supply? Called SelbySoft and Dan had me up and running in less than 90 minutes using my laptop and a complete upload of software "and" all my data history. It would have been faster but I was trying to handle customers while dealing with the system and asked him to call me back a couple times.

I have a few minor issues in the past but SelbySoft CS has been very helpful to me each time. They have offered to reconfigure my menu so not to loses data.

Yes there is a cost but overall, I'm very happy with the program and company.

Dennis - I didn't know about the trouble.  Make sure you send it in so we can repair and get it back out to you asap!  Let me know if I can facilitate in any way.

Back to lurking now. . .
