What do you charge for coffee consulting services? What do you expect to pay? I'm starting to get into helping restaurants develop better coffee set ups and wanted a feeler for what my hourly rate should be. I'm not a roaster so there's no incremental future business from it.

Obviously it depends on your skill set and whether or not you can convey the value of that to the potential client. $500 per day with a 2 day minimum + any travel expenses is a good starting point. Hourly rates typically range from a little below $100 to about $150 per hour.

Do some research. Assess your skills honestly and charge accordingly. It's better to charge a bit more and exceed your value than it is to charge less and give them what they paid for.
