Hello everyone- I'm new to this forum and pretty new to the world of home espresso making too. I had the opportunity to buy a Rancilio Epoca S1 Tank model at an auction near where I live. I didn't have the opportunity to power it up but was told by several people that supposedly knew that it worked ok. All items were sold "As Is".
Yup - you guessed it. Didn't work. It powered up and both green power lights came on along with the amber "Low Tank Level" indicator light. I filled tank but the low tank level light never went out and pump never came on.
I've pulled off both sides and have discovered there's two plastic wire connectors that appear burned. It's melted in two areas inside that one connection.
It doesn't appear to have any other heat damage anywhere else. There is enough wire so I was thinking of just cutting off the damaged connector and installing another.
I'm wondering if there is a better way of going about this. If it melted once than what's to prevent it from happening again.
Any words of advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
