Hey everyone, I have been trying to figure out what this mountain water process is all about, but I am having trouble finding information on it. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between mountain water and swiss water processes?

Thanks!

Hi Jonathan,
I was also having trouble getting information on the differences in the two water processes, this is what I put together. First of all I don’t know how much you know about the water process in general but it is basically just saturating water with coffee soluble’s and caffeine, then filtering out the caffeine. Then they leave the soluble’s in the water without the caffeine, since the water is already saturated with the rest of the soluble’s no more can dissolve in the water so when they put in a fresh batch of beans mostly just the caffeine comes out of the beans which they again filter out. From what I gather both the Swiss Water process and the Mountain Water process use this same method for getting the caffeine out of the beans. So from the information I have read which again is not much, I think that the difference must be in the way that they filter out the caffeine, which they are probably not going to tell you much about, trade secrets and all. Anyway hope that helps.

I also tried extensively to research what the difference between the two different water processes is, and didn't find much... the only thing I did discover is that the "Royal Select" process (available through Royal Coffee, of course) is the same as the mountain water process. I certainly much prefer the mountain/royal water processes over the swiss.
