I have a customer who is experiencing grinder woes...
She recently purchased a Capresso Burr Grinder (not sure which model) and every time she grinds espresso it ends up clinging to everything except her portafilter. (I bite down on the urge to tell her "That's nothing compared to the amount of coffee I end up WEARING after a shift.) I told her that I suspected it was from high static electricity generated from her machine but I could not offer her any suggestions on how to correct the problem... Does anyone have any recommendations for reducing static among the grounds??

The Capresso uses an all-plastic catch hopper, and is a static monster. I struggled constantly with mine at the house and never fixed it. Ended up replacing with a glass-hopper Kitchen Aid when it finally died. I did find that if I gave it a minute to chill out before moving I could tap most of it down, but lots still ended up flying away. Sorry.
Try using a ceramic tea cup to catch grinds. I did that with my Bodum Antigua, and the static cling is much less of a problem that it was before. The trick is finding a cup that fits...
Good idea, James. Glass would be the key. However, on many of these the outlet is located a bit inconveniently for this. Maybe she could make up a little chute (index card?) to help direct the grinds into this tea cup.
I was thinking that a chute might help, but I wasn't sure how to approach that...
Thanks guys! I appreciate all the help!
