My mom is from Livonia, and most of her family is still there. What's really weird is that I was conceived in Atlanta and now I live here. Kind of freaks me out. My dad met my mom in Detroit, then they married and moved to Atlanta. They then moved to SoCal, where I was born and spent most of my life. And now I travel to Michigan 3-4 times a year. It all just comes back around, doesn't it?

Should we keep this a discussion or is this a group? Whatever works, I set up a group too if we want to migrate and add pictures and stuff. I grew up in Michigan and everywhere I went outside of the state Iwould run into or hang out with Michiganders. We're everywhere, especially lately as our population is shrinking like a leaky balloon. Thanks for kicking this off right Kyle and Ken.

Michiganders are peculiar peoples, from what I have been able to understand in my adventures around the states and Canada is that in a metaphor (maybe you've heard it) is that we are north America's high five to the world...we have a ton of great beer, a few hidden gems of coffee love, lots of history, lots of culture, and we are all very strange and uniquely different... that's all I can think for now, but it think that's my almost answer... we stick out like a giant hand on a map!

My Michigan coffee connection would be that I have worked at like 5 different shops here in Michigan and still live in Kalamazoo. It's a decent place to be. We have some decent coffee stops in town, some really good ones if you are willing to travel to the Ann Arbor area, and heck, we have Bell's Brewery here in the 'Zoo.

Michigan pretty much introduced me to the coffee industry and got me where i am today. I love me some MI, and i love love love me some coffee! I don't think i can think about coffee without thinking about MI. Michigan will slowly but surely be poppin up on the coffee map! Y'all just wait and see..... :o)

Oh Michigan how I love thee... let me count the ways...
First of all Michigan is beautiful and amazing... We have lakes and forests and hills and falls and some of the most awe inspiring places of beauty in the whole world!! We also have a very unique urban center in detroit. Which I find AMAZING! It's like a steam-punk haven. I could talk about this for a LONG LONG TIME!! Come visit Michigan and I will tell you everywhere to go.
We don't have much of a coffee scene here, but those who are in it are really into it, and theres a very nice little community based around coffee lovers! It seems like I'm friends with all the geeks in the state. It really feels like a Big state wide coffee Family. Say YES to Michigan!!

Perhaps it's because we all meet at our respective cafes to discuss the state of things, which without our fix would be grim sometimes.
My Michigan connection is the obvious one: it's where I live and work and drink my coffee. But I also connect with others around the state when I travel. It's sweet to see what everybody else is doing!
