Hi everyone!

I am currently based in Auckland, and was wanting to get in contact with any other NZ members here on bx! I know there are groups etc, but i would like to encourage and promote NZ members here on bx, and create more of a community feel for us guys and girls at the bottom of the world, and for us all to connect more.

This being the diverse place that it is, meeting people from all over the world is an absolute awesome and essential part of this community, but i would also like to get to know a few of the locals better too!

Cheers :)

Gidday Ryan, I am a Kiwi based up here in the sultry (and currently damp) tropics. Good point about creating a Kiwi community. I am pretty sure all the P-town members (Meaning Portland, NOT Palmerston North) have get togethers etc. Funnily (or oddly...or strangely...or ironically...) enough I will be in Auckland end of next week for 5 days. Any tips on where to go for the best flatwhites?
Ha ha well, Id say stick to any Wild Bean Cafe (BP Connect)!! Honestly the better place to get a flatwhite.... the most consistent at least!

But certainly, it would be great to create (or expand) the coffee community here!
Not too many Kiwis on here it seems or interacting online re coffee at all in my experience. Too busy making good coffee? Who knows. Would be nice to hear more from those doing it back home.
Where are you based Ryan? What cafe do you work in? Good effort on seeking some connection.

Alun, if you're familiar with Wellington you probably already know these but I'd recommend the following
Fidel's http://www.fidelscafe.com/main.html
and his cuz Ernesto's http://www.dineout.co.nz/restaurant.php?rest=6216&Restaurant=Er....
Coffee Supreme https://www.coffeesupreme.com/
MOJO http://www.mojocoffee.co.nz/
Laffare http://www.laffare.co.nz/index.aspx?ID=2
RIPE http://www.ripecoffee.com/
New cafe in place of the old Choc Fish in Scorching Bay http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominionpost/4774183a26605.html (my friend's uncle is co-owner)
PETONE
Caffiend: http://www.caffiend.co.nz/
Go Bang http://www.dineout.co.nz/restaurant.php?rest=4802&Restaurant=Go...
Some of the latter might be more serious about the whole dining experience and the coffee is not the be all and end all but all worth visiting.
Looking forward to hearing about your impressions etc. Have a good trip.
Hey Pangi, yes know all the Wellington roasters pretty well. This trip I tried most of the Auckland ones for the first time in a decade. Not wanting to give anyone a big head, or piss anyone off... some were very good, some were very average. All in all I would say Wellington coffee roasters have more variety in their espresso blending (not suprising as Havana import their own as do MoJo Coffee Cartel and I think Laffaire). For barista skill I think NZ is a shade behind Australia generally, but not as much as I thought they would be.

Would say that service standards in bigger places was very average, although that may be because I am now kind of use to the levels of service I get in Asia which is good.
