I've searched online and found a few individual examples, but nothing more. I'm also interested in information re what features you would expect to find for different dates or serial number ranges. Surely this info must be out there somewhere?

Try brenna@lamarzoccousa.com. LaMarzocco does not have any funky codes in their serial numbers, they just started with number 1 and kept going. Since the Franke buyout here in the states, info is not as readily accessible as you may hope on all equipment. Brenna can contact Italy and they could at least get the year it was manufactured for you even if it is something they do not have records for here in the US.

There should be a date of manufacture on the tag. At least, all of the ones I've had experience with do. Maybe they didn't start doing that until a certain date though.

I guess my REAL problem is I got a rebuilt machine without any serial number plate at all!

How are the groupheads mounted to the front boiler? Bolted? Welded? What color is the ribbon tape? Rainbow? Black? Does it just have touchpads and no "constant" or manual override for activating the groupheads? There are some features that you can at least get the decade right!

On US Spec Lineas, the manufacturers plate should be riveted on the right side of the lower frame (exterior). That manufacturers plate has the model, specification, serial number and manufacture date.

If the plate has been removed, I would be a bit skeptical of the machine. Has it been completely rebuilt? Who did the rebuild?

Honestly, if the rebuild was recent and was done by someone competent, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Yah I checked. It's not there. The machine looks like new internally. All the wiring and seals are new apparently. Very clean. This guy says he builds them from the ground up from warehoused parts taken from decommissioned Sbux machines. Brand new pump, motor and portafilters.

I guess my concern would be getting health dept. here in Chicago to approve it. The NSF markings would be on the same plate, right?

David-

Yes, the UL and NSF markings are typically on the manufacturers plate. Though a couple of my Lineas have the NSF sticker separate on the frame.

If I were you, I would contact the person who sold you the machine and find out just what is going on with that plate and the serial number. Quite simply, not attaching the plate sounds sketchy and suspect to me. It's a standard component of the machine and should have been included.
