Dear Baristi, I am in the process to open a coffee house in Kelowna, BC - Canada. It should be ready by the end of January 2010 and I would be interested in finding a full time barista who would be able to do latte art. He/She needs to have a working permit.

Congrats on the new shop....I lived in Kelowna for a few years...now I'm on the coast roasting coffee. Kelowna needs a good coffee house. Where abouts in kelowna? Have you tried advertising in Vancouver? maybe find someone who wants to get out of the rat race.

Hi Dennis, thank you for your reply. I am opening in Water Street opposite the Court Room, and the building is part of the Delta Hotel. What do you think? The coffee house will have an Italian feel, coffee and all the other products will be 100% of high quality! As I am knew in Canada how would I advertise in Vancouver?
Your feedback is appreciated.
Grazie
Giovanni

Probably the easiest would be to post an ad on Craigslist...it's free and usually get a good quantity of replies...you'll have to sift through some not so qualified people though. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca that should get you started. You could place ads in the vancouver sun/the province newspapers but they are expensive. Craigslist is free. I think you'll have a decent location...good traffic with the hotel, casino etc. and new high end lofts down there, and the courts have people waiting all of the time. Winter gets kind of quiet in Kelowna so watch your expenses through winter. As you prepare to buy your smallwares check out canadian restaurant supply they are located in kelowna and usually have decent pricing on glassware/cutlery/plates/equipment. I used them alot when I was the F&B manager at the Harvest Golf Club. Not to turn this into a sales pitch, but if your looking for retail and wholesale packaged fresh roasted coffee I can help with that just check out my site www.stubbornmule.ca
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
