Me too! I got hooked on it on a visit to Paraguay. I still, like the spro best, but there are times of nostalgia when I feel almost homesick for Paraguay and mate is just the thing. That reminds me I need to get a new bombilla...

It goes to the nostalgia thing, but I find most of the mate available in the US is too refined. I like it with the twigs, the leaves and even the residual powder-it really punches you in the face!
the mate-cano. i take it with about 16 ounces mate, a double shot, and some brown sugar. takes alot of love to do it right, but it is so right.
My mate runs through to fast. Do you run water over it in the group head to let it swell to slow down the shot? My mate rep said that espresso water is to hot for it. Would it be better to use cold water to swell the mate then run it through your espresso machine? I normally cold steep it and drink straight. I try to drink my americano in the morning and mate the rest of the day. It seems to work best for me.
Cold steeping is interesting... The Paraguayans drink it that way all day long (the same batch). In the evening they add the hot water and it releases the caffeine. For them it is a very social activity. They will pass around the cup and just keep adding water to steep some more.
That's how I drink it. I love the dust! For the get up and go
